Journey (2021) is an animated short film about the struggles of defining home that followed the artist’s family for decades. The history of displacements in her family goes far back than her own journey. Her great grandparents lost their home in Chechnya due to religious persecution and her grandparents lost their house in the Golan Heights to occupation. What Judy once thought of as a curse that followed her family for generations becomes a worthwhile Journey that paints who she is today.

The recordings are of the artist’s mother, father and sister, providing different perspectives on their journey to Texas.

Judy Kharchou was born in 2002 in Damascus Syria, where she lived a quiet life until the war broke out in 2012. Judy and her family moved to Jordan, escaping the war, and later in 2016 they moved to Dallas, Texas. Judy attends Lake highlands Highschool, she is a member in Color Guard and she loves art and singing because no matter how far you travel or how blurry your home gets, music and art are the one thing that can make you connect to your home.
